Posters from the Kennebunk Just History Walk

This research presented in these posters was compiled as part of the Just History Walk: Lives Between Two Rivers, which took place in Kennebunk on November 8, 2025. For more information about this walk, click here.

The majority of posters shown here also have corresponding posts in the archives, which we encourage you to peruse and share with your communities.

A number of these posters were developed in consultation with Wabanaki partners, who generously shared stories and materials their communities have held with care down through the decades and centuries.

The historical information included in many other posters was primarily drawn from the Just History Database, located on the Brick Store Museum website. The Just History project was founded in 2020 when a small group of interested area residents galvanized around the shared goal of demonstrating that Kennebunk, Wells, Kennebunkport, and Arundel were never all-white spaces. The database now includes information about over 300 individuals and highlights the source material from which it is drawn.
